Wool

It's a little known fact that the Central West produces some of the finest wool in the world, and we have the trophies to prove it! Producers have held, and some still hold, World Championship Trophies for fine and superfine wool fleeces ... the Zegna Superfine Wool Trophy. This award is judged and presented in Italy each year. The REAL Golden Fleeces.

Wool, reportedly, draws revenue in excess of $40,000,000 to the Central West. Quite a significant input in anyone's language.

So visit the Wool display site and take a journey - a Wool experience.

On display will be:

  • A number of champion Merino sheep

  • A solar-powered mobile shearing stand

  • Fleeces for you to actually feel

  • Exquisite wedding dresses and ballgowns made by Deniliquin's Jane Frazer from fine and superfine wool fabric (While resident in England Jane was involved in the making of clothing for Princess Di and other UK and European Nobility).

Demonstrations

  • Men and women shearers using the solar powered shearing stand

  • Special demonstration of old style "blade" skills

  • Spinners and weavers going through the processes of making yarn and fabric and exhibiting their creations
